Canterbury Floors' Signature Hand Scraped Black Walnut is a true hand-scraped solid wood floor sold in both random plank (mixed widths of 3-1/4", 5", and 7") or in fixed widths of 3", 4", or 5".
Hand scraping provides an authentic old world look and feel and lends to the character and personality of the rooms in which it is used. True hand scraped floors require an artisans touch and this is simply not a process that can be mass produced in a distant factory with accurate and satisfactory results.
Canterbury's floors are hand scraped using traditional tools by trained craftsmen who specialize in the process, each hand scraped floor is made to order to our customer's specifications and the finished product reflects this attention to detail. All manufacturing and scraping is done in the USA.
Hand scraped Walnut is available in standard random length planks (1' to 7' lengths - 3.2' average), and in long plank (2-12') and estate plank (4-12') handscraped flooring looks its best when the natural character of the wood is allowed and as such the standard product is normally sold in a Character & Better grade however custom grading is also available.
